Flying Heroes Sequence 240 Rough Animation WIP

I found this in my hard drive, it’s quite old, I had done it around year 2007, for the feature film Flying Heroes-Cherami.

I got some other rough animated sequences that I did for this movie that I’ll be uploading soon for you all to see.

Hope you enjoy watching some old school traditional animation.

  1. thats really cool. I was wondering how hard is it to get into a studio that makes 2d feature animation and what would be the best way.

      Hi Patrick,
      Thanks, glad you like it!!
Well all depends, I guess that getting a job in a traditional feature it’s the same that getting a job in a CGI feature film, all depends on how good you are and the skills you have…..plus the need of the studio for artists.
I reviewed many portfolios when I was working for Filmax, and what we search for was drawing skills, acting skills and animation.
Looking at the live drawings on a portfolio and the scenes on a demo reel of an artist you can tell more or less if He could fit your needs.

But the worst thing is when you are good enough to work in a place, but external issues make it impossible, like being accepted to work at Disney and not being able to make it because a work visa problem……..thats frustrating.

All the best Patrick, Thanks for your comment!

  2. I can’t get enough of these great rough pencil animations. This one is nice as well. I do 3d and 2d animation as well, though I’m self-taught and still sort of a newbie. Do you work freelance or for a studio?

    • pablonavarro Says:

      Hi Vincent,
      Thanks fo your comment!
No animator in the world can get enough of rough pencil line tests! it’s the coolest thing to watch isn’t it?!!
Vincent, I self-taught all I know too, I have to say it’s a long and hard way, but believe me, when you learn something that way, it stick with you till the end!
Answering you question if I’m a freelancer or studio employee,
Most of the time in my career I was working at studios as an employee, but the late situation as changed a bit, there are not many studios in Spain right now able to hire people, so right now I’m working as a freelance.

Check on my CV if you wanna see the studios I worked with.

All the best for ya Vincent, I wish you the best in your career!

      Cheers!

  3. Bloody MASTER!

¡Y ojala Giacomo salga adelante!

    • pablonavarro Says:

      Hola Santi,

      Hi Patrick!
Thank you very much for the nice comment!
It should be more blog’s showing rough animation! it is a great way to see the “skeleton” of the animation itself.
I’ll keep posting stuff for you all to enjoy!

      Big hug!

      Ps: you’re more than welcome😉
